An estimated one hundred executives, managers, directors and GIS professionals from the leading global oil and gas companies will descend upon Broomfield, Colorado on August 31 and September 1 for the 5th annual GeoGathering Conference. This is a conference for pipeline operators in the production and gathering sectors who want to learn about planning and implementing a GIS and putting that system to work for their organization. The conference will look at leveraging mobile location technologies with a focus on GIS and GPS data collection. Access to location data in the field, and data accuracy are hot topics this year.

Pipeline safety and the associated data issues are of particular interest this year as a result of public and political awareness raised by the San Bruno natural gas explosion last year along with other recent incidents. The conference will address persistent problems that operators continue to address such as data quality, process streamlining, application integration, and enterprise access to useful information. In addition, market drivers such as recently discovered energy reserves, and heightened public interest in the viability of alternative energy versus conventional energy will be discussed.

The leading providers of geospatial solutions to the oil and gas industry will be present to discuss case studies and demonstrate technologies and services that support the oil and gas value chain. The conference is set up to be an interactive exchange of ideas, case studies, and information to address the industry’s pressing business and operational priorities.
